It seems like the debate about the gender pay gap in Hollywood has been going on for absolutely years now but there still seems to be little being done about it. Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman has recently revealed how her No Strings Attached male co-star Ashton Kutcher was paid three times more than she was for the movie, and now Ashton has spoken out to show his support for Natalie.
Earlier this week, Natalie said, "Ashton Kutcher was paid three times as much as me on 'No Strings Attached'. I knew and I went along with it because there's this thing with 'quotes' in Hollywood. His was three times higher than mine so they said he should get three times more. I wasn't as p***ed as I should have been. I mean, we get paid a lot, so it's hard to complain, but the disparity is crazy."
Now, Ashton Kutcher has spoken out in support of his No Strings Attached co-star, insisting that he is very proud of how she has gone about the revelation. Ashton took to his official Twitter page, to tell his fans and followers, "So proud of Natalie and all women who stand up for closing the gender pay gap!"
While there has been plenty of people talking about the gender inequality in Hollywood, for a very long time now, it seems like we could still be waiting for quite some time before the bigwigs in the movie business pay any real attention and make the necessary changes. Watch this space"
