West Bromwich Albion have issued a statement saying Claudio Yacob's transfer from Racing Club was legitimate. The Argentine midfielder joined the Baggies in July of 2012 and played a large part in this year's success. The team, who was predicted to be in the relegation battle for much of this season, finished a record breaking 8th in the Premier League.
According to CNN there are several stories back in Argentina that his former agent Marcelo Simonian is ready to sue his player because of two other unlicensed agents were allegedly involved in the transfer.
Argentine lawyer by the name Ariel Reck has contacted the English Football Federation and asked that they investigate the transfer even further to see if there is any truth in the claims.
The statement of the club reads: “As with all of our transfer dealings, the negotiation process regarding the signing of Claudio Yacob complied fully with all FIFA and FA rules and regulations.”
“All negotiations were conducted and concluded directly with a FIFA-registered agent.”
It is unknown if the English FA has initiated the investigation but one this is sure - the 25-year-old midfielder will have a lot of non-football matters on his hands this offseason.
