Columbo actor Peter Falk has died age 83. A spokesperson for the family confirmed that Peter passed away in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Falk has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease since 2009 and was placed in a conservatorship.
Peter Falk had a successful career as Columbo, winning an impressive four Emmy awards for his portrayal of the scruffy detective. He has twice been nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actor. First for his performance in Murder Inc. and secondly for Pocketful of Miracles.
Falk portrayed Columbo on a regular basis from 1971 until 1978 and he also made the rare appearance as the cigar smoking crime fighter from 1989 until 2003. Peter Falk leaves behind his wife of 34 years Shera and his two daughters, who he had in a previous marriage. R.I.P. Peter Falk aka Columbo.
