Over the years, we have seen some very interesting and very unusual casting choices being made and, while some of these decision have proved to be genius, there are others that have really not worked out. Well, the latest piece of casting news has left us all scratching our heads, wondering just how it is actually going to work out.
We already know that Ridley Scott is bringing us the new movie Alien: Covenant, with actor Michael Fassbender returning to the cast, being joined by actress Katherine Waterston. Well, it has now been reported that comedy actor Danny McBride has joined the cast of this sci-fi thriller, in a role which has yet to be officially confirmed.
While we already know a little about what to expect from the new movie, Alien: Covenant has been officially described as, "Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the 'synthetic' David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition."
It is hard to imagine Danny McBride being anything other than Danny McBride, so surely this is going to have to be some sort of comic relief for the film. We just cannot believe for a second that the actor will be playing a serious role in the movie. We guess we will just have to wait and see.
Alien: Covenant is expected to begin shooting this year and is set to hit the big screen on October 6, 2017.
