For a lot of actors and actresses in the world today, there are certain break out roles, which push their career on to the next level, increasing their profile and opening many more doors. For British actress Freema Agyeman that role was as Martha Jones in the hit UK television series Doctor Who. While Martha had already been acting for many years, this role really kick started her career.
Unfortunately for Freema, as with most of the Doctor's companions, her role came to an end and she has had to move on. Fortunately for the actress, Doctor Who opened many doors for her, even leading towards her getting her big break over in the US, where she has begun to make a name for herself.
Since Doctor Who, Freema Agyeman has gone on to play the role of Alesha Phillips in Law and Order: UK, where she appeared in 39 episodes between 2009 and 2011. Meanwhile, Freema will be best known to US audiences as Larissa Loughlin in the hit The CW series The Carrie Diaries, in which she has been in 21 episodes.
Freema Agyeman has yet to really make the move into big screen productions but, following her recent role in The Carrie Diaries, it might not be too long before we see Freema in a Hollywood movie. There is no denying that Freema Agyeman is a talented actress and we expect to see plenty more from her, on both the big and small screen, over the next few years.
