The comic book movie fans have been calling for Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years now and, after Marc Webb did arguably the worst possible job with the franchise, giving us two terrible movies, Sony had the sense to let Marvel have control of the character, much to the delight of fans all over the world.
While you ,might think that Marc Webb would be a little annoyed by the fact that he did not get to complete his The Amazing Spider-Man trilogy, the director actually seems fine about the whole situation. Marc says that he is happy that Spider-Man is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he feels that this is where the character truly belongs.
Webb was asked by Slash Film if he was disappointed at not completing his trilogy, when he answered, "No, I’m very excited for all the folks at Marvel and what they’re going to do with that character. I think he belongs in that universe and there’s a real excitement to see what they come up with. Maybe we’ll all be on a panel someday, Sam, me and whoever directs it."
British actor Tom Holland becomes the latest star to take on the role of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, as Marvel look to bring us a younger version of the character than we have previously seen on the big screen. Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, which opens on April 29, 2016 in the UK and May 6, 2016 in the US. We will then get a new Spider-Man reboot movie in 2017.
