Miles Austin was an off season signing by the Cleveland Browns that did not generate much attention with fans nor throughout the league but he has shown sparks that suggest his NFL career is getting back on track.
The talented wide receiver who at one time was a featured receiver for the Dallas Cowboys has 14 receptions in three games for the Cleveland Browns and has made the transition from being a deep threat to possession receiver. The numbers are not overly impressive but when fans take a closer look they see that he has 12 catches over his past two games against the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens and he reached the end zone in each game.
Moreover, he is becoming a 'safety blanket' for Brian Hoyer that all quarterbacks like to have. He is a veteran player who knows how to run precise routes, is big enough to go over the middle without fear and understands that his playing with the Cleveland Browns represents likely his last opportunity to extend his career in the NFL so there is a 'focus' that some young players will likely not have.
The Cleveland Browns will be taking on the Tennessee Titans and their defensive secondary represents an opportunity for him to potentially have a big game.
The secondary of the Tennessee Titans is not of the same ability as the Baltimore Ravens against whom he gained 51 yards and scored a touchdown. There is no indication that Miles Austin's legs are suffering from the hamstring problems that derailed his time with the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Brian Hoyer has developed chemistry with him.
The surprise player for the Cleveland Browns and Fantasy Football League owners in week 5 might just be Miles Austin as he continues to rebuild his NFL career.
