We really have been spoiled when it comes to the movies we have been given this year, so it was interesting to see the shortlist that has been made for the 2017 Oscars, with one of the movies that we are most interested in, being the hit Bollywood movie Sarbjit, which features a fantastic performance from the very impressive Aishwarya Rai.
It is no secret that Aishwarya Rai has come in for more than her fair share of criticism in recent years but she has certainly silenced her critics with her performance in the movie Sarbjit, and it would certainly silence them even more if the movie was to go on to win the Best Movie Oscar at the Academy Awards.
For those of you who have yet to see the movie, Sarbjit has been officially described as, "Biopic of Sarabjit Singh, a farmer residing at Bhikiwind, Punjab, near the Indo-Pak border, crossed the border after having a couple of drinks. However, he was mistaken to be an Indian spy and was sentenced with capital punishment," and the movie is well worth a watch.
While we would love to see Sarbjit winning the Best Movie Oscar at the Academy Awards, it does seem highly unlikely that it will actually happen, especially when you see some of the movies that it will be going up against. As well as Sarbjit, the Best Movie list also includes such films as La La Land, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Silence, Arrival, and Hacksaw Ridge, among others.
Unfortunately, the list currently consists of 336 films and will be shortened in the near future, so it will be interesting to see which movies do make the final cut.
